About Linen
Linen is magic. It's that simple.
We fell in love with linen's texture, its rich history, and the way it just gets better with time. Its touch whispered tales of sunlit fields and ancient traditions.
But as we delved deeper, we saw an uncomfortable truth: the fashion industry was drowning in waste, churning out disposable pieces that barely lasted a season.
Therefore, we made a decision. We would create BlueFlowerCo, a haven for those who cherish quality over quantity, who understand that true style isn't about constant change, but about finding pieces that become a part of your story.
So BlueFlowerCo was born.
But here's the thing about linen: it's a bit of an underdog.
In 2022, linen made up just 1% of total fiber production. But we saw this as an opportunity. An opportunity to showcase a material that's not just beautiful, but kind to our planet.
We knew that bringing out the best in linen required exceptional skill. Therefore, we partnered with talented artisans in India, masters of their craft who could transform our linen dreams into reality.
These artisans aren't just workers; they're the true artists behind BlueFlowerCo. Many have honed their skills in luxury textile production for years. We ensure they receive fair wages, respect, and support - not out of charity, but as recognition of their incredible talent.
But in a world where everything was starting to look the same, we wanted our pieces to stand out. Therefore, we focused on those little touches that make you smile - a quirky lace here, a beautiful embroidery there. You might spot a picot edge (that's a fancy term for hemstitch) or an embroidery that plays with linen's natural texture.
Our approach embraces the wisdom of old ways and sustainability. We believe there's something special about reconnecting with a more thoughtful way of living. Linen's been around for thousands of years - it's our way of bringing that rich history into your home.
However, we're not perfect in our practices. The journey towards true sustainability is long and complex.
And so, we're committed to continual improvement. We're learning every day, striving to do better - for our planet, for our artisans, and for you.
So whether you're here for curtains that fall just so, or placemats that make every meal feel special, welcome. We're glad you're here, joining us in celebrating fewer things, but better things.
